SHS names student of the week
Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I am currently a senior at Salisbury High School.
Q. Who is in your family? Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. I have my dad, Joe Kemmerer, and my mom, Stacy Kemmerer. I also have two sisters, Lillian and Tessa, a dog named Niffler and a cat named Teekls.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject is chemistry. I enjoy learning about different chemicals and elements and discovering how various processes depend on each element’s unique characteristics. It’s fascinating to think about how these elements shape our world today and how essential they are to so many aspects of our lives.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I have received recognition for having high honor roll all four years of high school. I have also received recognition as the National Honor Society SHS Branch student president.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A. Yes, I am. I am a SHS cheerleader. I also participate in the Debate Club, Model United Nations, the SHS Class of 2025 Advisory as treasurer, the National Honor Society president and the German Club. Outside of school, I go to a dance studio.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. I plan to pursue a four-year path in prepharmacy, followed by schooling for a PharmD.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. My biggest challenge to date has been learning to accept that it’s OK not to have perfect grades and that failure is a natural part of growth. I’ve always pushed myself to achieve more, but over time, I’ve come to understand myself better and recognize the value in embracing imperfection as part of the learning process.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I’d like to be remembered for making a meaningful difference in others’ lives, whether through my future work in pharmacy, my contributions to my community or the relationships I’ve built along the way.
Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with any historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?
A. I would choose to spend an evening conversing with Margaret Atwood. Her literary works on feminism and women’s rights are truly inspiring and have taught me the importance of resilience and standing up for what I believe in.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Don’t let one bad teacher or coach ruin your passion.
