The East Penn Feeding Program was established in 2019 in conjunction with the East Penn School District to address the food insecurities of children and families in our East Penn region. To date over 18,000 bags of food have been distributed in our community. The East Penn Food Coalition was then initiated with local service organizations in the area to jointly support the needs of our community. The Emmaus Rotary manages the overall program with other service organizations helping to support the cause, including The Emmaus Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, Lions Club, Lioness Club, Bethel Pantry (Groceries Plus), Faith Presbyterian Church, Grace Lutheran Church and Angel Network.
With food prices increasing, the East Penn Food Coalition needs at least $30,000 annually to continue to fund the program. Please consider donating to help the children and families in our area by contacting Meghan Reed at MeghanReed517@gmail.com.
Effective this month, all refuse and recycling collection in Emmaus will be done on one day. All refuse and recycling must be placed at the curb Wednesday night for Thursday pick up. All refuse must be placed in cans and all recycling must be placed in bins. Make sure all refuse is in a separate can from recyclables and are clearly marked as such. Trash bags lying on the ground are not acceptable and may result in Whitetail Disposal’s refusal to collect the refuse and/or recycling and enforcement from the borough’s codes department.
Emmaus Borough Council meets 6 p.m. Feb. 3 and 18. Please note Feb. 18 is a Tuesday due to the Presidents Day holiday Feb. 17. The full calendar for other meetings can be found on the website emmauspa.gov.
