Mary “Mitzi” Legath

Queenship of Mary Catholic Church member

Mary “Mitzi” Legath, 90, of Northampton, died Jan. 16, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Health Network’s 17th Street inpatient hospice. She was the wife of the late Ulrich J. “Rick” Legath.

Born in Bernau, Hungary, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Schmalzel) Wolfinger. The family was displaced to Germany following World War II and then immigrated in 1950.

Once the family settled in Northampton, she worked as a nanny in Allentown. After she married, she worked in the garment industry and then part time in the Northampton High School cafeteria.

She was a member of Queenship of Mary Catholic Church, Northampton.

She was a member of Coplay Flower Club and the Young at Heart Senior Group.

She is survived by a son, Richard and wife Constance of Bethlehem; a daughter, Linda Wejkszner and husband Allen of Slatington; four grandchildren, Jordan with Marcella, Kellyn, Taylor Wejkszner-Renner with Luke and Brooke Wejkszner; a great-granddaughter, Lillian; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Pauline Macchia and Margaret Hudak.

There will be a calling time 10:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m., Jan. 24 at the church, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton.

Contributions may be presented to the church.

Arrangements were made by Reichel Funeral Home, Northampton.
