Special to The Press

Schnecksville Fire Company will host an all-you-can-eat buffet style breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Jan. 26.

Menu includes ham, sausage, creamed chipped beef, home fries, pancakes, toast, beverages, and eggs cooked any style.

Breakfasts are also planned for the last Sundays of February, March and April.

Mark Kaintz Sr. has taken over as the new fire chief, with Mark Kaintz Jr. serving as deputy chief, and Ron Stahley as assistant chief.

Stahley started volunteering at the fire company 50 years ago when he returned from military service to Schnecksville where he grew up.

He recently transitioned to assistant fire chief after serving as chief for 38 years.

Stahley said the brush truck which was put into use last fall is “exceeding expectations.”

“It is a great addition to the fleet,” Stahley said. “The guys did a great job in updating a truck to meet the needs of firefighting.

“We are very happy with it.”

He noted the 25 members of the fire team gather for training every Monday and drill in various subjects.

Four junior firefighters are under age 18.

The others range in age to 75.

Stahley reported the Schnecksville Fire Co. responded to 397 calls in 2024, and half of those were highway accidents.

He discussed serving all the new development in the area.

“We sure do our best and we get some help from our neighbors Neffs and Tri-Clover fire companies,” he explained.

Schnecksville Fire Company is looking for volunteers to help in the kitchen for fundraising occasions, including the breakfasts, flea markets, craft shows and public sales.

The age range of kitchen help is 66-86.

“We need some new blood,” his wife Alice Stahley said.

She added younger members are needed to keep these traditions moving along into the future.
