A Coopersburg motorist was badly hurt when his vehicle overturned, trapping him inside, in a crash along Interstate 78 in Salisbury Township 9:18 p.m. Jan. 1, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville.
The motorist was traveling along I-78 West near mile marker 58.9 when he lost control of his vehicle, went off the right side of the road and up an embankment. The vehicle struck two trees before overturning at least once, according to authorities.
The motorist was described by police as sustaining “serious injuries.” Upper Saucon EMS, Salisbury firefighters and Salisbury Township crews also responded.
A North Carolina motorist escaped injury when he allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel and crashed into a concrete barrier on Interstate 78 in Salisbury Township 8:53 a.m. Jan. 2, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The motorist was in the left lane of 1-78 West when he fell asleep and the vehicle struck the center concrete barrier at mile marker 59.1, according to authorities. Getz Service Center also responded.
