Library to host medication education event Jan. 30

Lower Macungie Library hours are 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
AARP Tax Preparation Service will be offered at Lower Macungie Library Feb. 6 through April 10. Appointments are required and can be made in person 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 30.
The Alburtis Afternoon Book Club will meet 1-2:30 p.m. Jan. 16 to discuss “Lessons in Chemistry” by Bonnie Garmus. The book club will meet at the Alburtis Community Center.
Fun, Friendship and Fiber Arts (for adults) will meet 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 17 and 31. Bring your projects and make friends and share ideas.
History of the Civil Rights Movement – an adult program – will be offered 1-2 p.m. Jan. 20.
Snack & Write: A Teen Writing Workshop for grades 6-12 will meet 6-7 p.m. Jan. 21.
Celebrate National Polka Dot Day 5-7 p.m. Jan. 22 with a scavenger hunt for youth.

There will be a story time with Zoellner Arts Center 10-11 a.m. Jan. 23 for preschool and youth.
There will be a movie matinee for adults 2-4 p.m. Jan. 23 featuring the movie “Mamma Mia!”
Celebrate Chinese New Year with a youth program noon to 1 p.m. Jan. 25.
There will be a Dog Man Party for youth 5-6 p.m. Jan. 27 to celebrate the release of the new movie.
Chit Chat & Craft Adult Craft Night will meet 6-8 p.m. Jan. 28 to create cookie cutter snowscapes.
There will be Sensory Coloring and Crafting for Adults 11 a.m. to noon Jan. 28 and Feb. 25.
National Puzzle Day Jigsaw Puzzle Swap for adults will be held 1-2 p.m. Jan. 29. Bring up to five puzzles to exchange and work on the community puzzle.
National Puzzle Day! for kindergarten through fifth grades 5-7 p.m. Jan. 29 will offer the opportunity to solve a variety of puzzles.
There will be a medication education event 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 30. Allentown Health Bureau nurses and Allentown Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps will be available to answer questions about medications.

Paws to Read for youth and adults will be offered 6-7 p.m. Feb. 5. Lehigh Valley Pet Therapy dogs and handlers will be available.

Craftastic Kids: Valentine’s Day for grades K-5 will meet 6-7 p.m. Feb. 13.

The film, “The Fries Rebellion,” can be seen at the Bartholomew Center for the Preservation of Lower Macungie Township History at Camp Olympic barn 1-4 p.m. Sundays.

Lower Macungie Township now offers indoor pickleball at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center gymnasium. Advance registration is required.
Open gym is available at the community center. Residents must purchase an annual membership to use the gym.

Adult classes include baking, belly dance, yoga, karate, ballroom dance and tai chi. Youth classes include cooking, Kindermusik, Safe Sitter, tennis, pre-ballet and tot sports.

Christmas tree collection will continue through Jan. 24. Trees are picked up the same day as your scheduled waste collection.
Yard waste center hours for January and February are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Yard waste permits are required for drop-off. The center is located at 5536 Indian Creek Road, Macungie.
