Heffelfinger to run for re-election

Magisterial District Judge Todd P. Heffelfinger announced his candidacy for re-election. The judicial district encompasses Whitehall Township and Coplay Borough.

Heffelfinger received his certificate as a magisterial district judge in December 2017 and has served since January 2020. During Heffelfinger`s term, he said, he emphasized being fair, neutral and unbiased. He has heard thousands of cases including traffic, criminal, landlord/tenant and civil.

“The citizens of Whitehall Township and the borough of Coplay deserve this type of individual for the position of their magisterial district judge,” Heffelfinger said.

Heffelfinger, 62, is a 25.5-year veteran of the Whitehall Township Police Department. During his career with the Whitehall police department, he was a member of the patrol division and the accident reconstruction team. After retiring in December 2015, Heffelfinger was employed by the Lehigh County Sheriff’s Department as a full-time deputy sheriff until his election as magisterial district judge in November 2019.

Heffelfinger graduated from Whitehall High School and Lehigh Career and Technical Institute as a member of the Class of 1980. He also holds an associate degree in criminal justice administration from Lehigh Carbon Community College.

Heffelfinger is a graduate of the first Pennsylvania State Sheriff’s Academy and Allentown Police Academy. Among his numerous letters of commendation and awards, Heffelfinger received the Victor Talotta Memorial Scholarship while attending LCCC.

Heffelfinger coached his son’s baseball team at the Schadt Avenue Playground Association, is an active member of Jones-Quigg American Legion Post 739 in Hokendauqua, West Coplay Maennerchor and is a lifetime member of Fullerton Fire Hall Social Club.

Heffelfinger is a lifelong resident of Whitehall and Coplay. He was born and raised in Coplay and later moved to his current residence in Whitehall, where he currently resides with his wife of 30 years, Sandi. They have two children, Brooke and Trevor.
