Grants available for historic preservation

The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission is now accepting applications for the Keystone Historic Preservation Grant program to help fund projects that identify, preserve, promote and protect historic and archaeological resources in the state.

The grants can be used for rehabilitation, preservation and restoration activities for sites publicly accessible and under nonprofit or local government ownership. Construction grants are available from $5,000 to $100,000 and require a 50/50 cash match.

A total of $2 million is available from the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund.

The two categories for grants – construction and planning – are available for historic places listed or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Applicants may apply for only one type of grant.

Prospective applicants for construction grants should attend the PHMC webinar 3 p.m. Jan. 23. To register, visit the Eventbrite Construction Grant registration page.

Prospective applicants for planning grants should attend the PHMC webinar 3 p.m. Jan. 24. To register, visit the Eventbrite Planning Grant registration page.

Applications are due March 3. Visit the PHMC website for eligibility information and grant guidelines.
