The spring session of NASD community education classes will soon begin. You do not have to be a Northampton resident to participate.

• Low-impact water aerobics will be starting 7:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 21 and continue Tuesdays and Thursdays through March 4 in the pool at Northampton Area Middle School. The instructor will be in the pool demonstrating and explaining all the exercises.

• Dance It Out will be held 6:30-7:30 Wednesdays, Feb. 5-26, in the multipurpose room at Siegfried Elementary School. It is a fun, high-energy and low/high cardio and strength workout. All fitness levels are welcome. Bring water and optional 1- to 3-pound weights or dumbbells.

There is a cost for both classes. A drop-in fee is also available.

For more information, the cost and to register, visit nasdschools.org/page/community-ed or contact Michele Heisler at heislerm@nasdschools.org or 484-661-6662.

If you would like to discuss holding a community education class, based on your passion or skill, reach out to Heisler. Instructors need to have a TB test and clearances.

NAMS is currently recruiting sixth-grade students for KAB — Kids All Belong — for the 2024-25 academic year. If your sixth-grade student is interested in signing up to participate in KAB, have them complete the Google form on Schoology. To be a member of KAB, students need to be passing all their classes and follow the code of conduct and SMART expectations.

The group is looking for students who can be positive climate changers in the building. KAB students will help to create a school climate where “kids all belong”; design schoolwide activities, such as unity day, pink shirt day and 143 Day; welcome new students to NAMS; plan new student socials; and assist with fifth-grade transition activities.

Join the Lunch Bunch at NAMS! Lunch Bunch is a great way to meet new people and have lunch with friends. During this time, students have the opportunity to focus on friendship skills, conflict resolution, managing emotions and coping skills. The group meets once a week during its lunch period.

If you have any questions, email or call your child’s guidance counselor.

Reminders for Northampton Area High School students: You must be carrying your ID each day. It is needed to scan in and out of the building and to sign into the study hall.

Also, students should not be coming into the building more than 10 minutes before their scheduled class starts. If a student gets there too early, they must sit in the office until it’s time for class.

If students are coming into the building late, make sure to stop and see attendance before scanning and going to class.

Additionally, be aware as to which scanner you are scanning into for attendance.

For students who are late arrivals, if you are coming into the building before class starts, report to the auditorium until the bell rings. Do not go to class and hang out in the halls until class starts.
