Clifford R. Steinmetz

formerly of Catasauqua

Clifford R. Steinmetz, 77, formerly of Catasauqua, died Jan. 3, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Nancy (Hillenbrand) Steinmetz for 56 years.

Born in Northampton, he was the son of the late Clifford F. and Eleanor (Dieter) Steinmetz.

He graduated from Catasauqua High School in 1965.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a boatswain’s mate on a wooden minesweeper, the USS Exploit.

He became a journeyman carpenter.

He was a member of the carpenters union for more than 50 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Stephen, Peter and Samuel; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Matthew C.; and two sisters, Eleanor and Shelia.

Services will be private.
