Carolyn H. Dalton

formerly of Macungie

Carolyn H. Dalton, 78, formerly of Macungie, died Jan. 6, 2025. She was a devoted wife of the late Dr. Augustine I. Dalton Jr. Born in Richmond, Va., she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred (Camden) Harris.

She was a graduate of Manchester High School where she was a member of her community outreach sorority. An avid lover of numbers, she made her career as a bookkeeper for Mutual Insurance Company of Lehigh County, retiring in 1997.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Allentown, where she sang in the choir, spearheaded annual drives to send care packages to soldiers serving overseas, coordinated Sunday school events and was a nursery department assistant.

She truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; spending time with her family — especially her seven grandchildren, creating beautiful stained glass, traveling the world with her late husband and border collie and gardening.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Eric and his wife, Susan, of Macungie; daughter, Lisa Marie Cheatham and her husband, Jeff, of Winchester, Va.; grandchildren, Abigail, Mitchell, Austin, Samuel and Amanda, Brady Cheatham.

She was predeceased by her brother, William Harris; granddaughter, Aubrey Cheatham.

Services will be held 3 p.m. Jan. 19 in the Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. 274 N. Krocks Road, Allentown. Calling hour is 2-3 p.m. Jan. 19 in the funeral home.

Her family requests contributions be made in her name to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, Ga. 30047 and/or the Virginia Military Institute (Admissions), 319 Letcher Ave., Lexington, Va. 24450, both of which played a central role in her and Augustine’s lives.
