The Emmaus wrestling team grappled to a fifth-place finish last weekend at the annual Bethlehem Holiday Wrestling Classic.

The Hornets had five place winners and crowned one champ at the event.

Jackson Max earned the 107-pound title by going 5-0 at the meet, including one pin and two technical falls. He earned the title with an 11-10 win over Honesdale’s Nathan Schuman in the title bout.

The Hornets’ Emilio Albanese also reached the title bout in his weight class. Albanese won his first four matches, including two by fall, before losing to Northern Lebanon’s Sam Wolford 7-3 in the 114-pound final.

Teagan Caciolo finished fourth at the BHWC. After winning his first three bouts, two by fall, Caciolo lost in the semifinals. He won a consolation bout to earn a place in the third-place match, where he lost 5-3 to Nazareth’s Remy Trach.

Jesse Scott (160) and Xayden Sallit (172) both took sixth place at the event.
