The first Council meeting of 2925, was held Jan. 6 at Macungie Institute.
President Ron Barboski announced a former council member, Dorothy Kociuba, died. Kociuba was a council member from 2008 and remained in office for four years. She was also on the borough’s civil service commission for 10 years.
Kociuba was a resident of the borough for 45 years. She leaves behind her husband, Thomas and two children, Mary and Tommy. She was 86 years old.
The grant used to fund the crosswalk project is being expanded to include lighting. The intersection to be further enhanced is West Main and Brookfield Drive.
Cynthia Hartzell, the borough’s tax collector, has stated she will not seek re-election. Candidates for her successor are being considered. A suggestion was also made to check on the possibility of her duties being filled by Berkheimer.
It was noted there are bricks missing from the sidewalk at Main and Church streets. This will be investigated.
An executive session was held for legal matters.
