EHS names student of the week
Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I’m in 12th grade at Emmaus High school.
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. My parents names are Milagros and Jason. I have a younger brother named Nicolas and my dog Daisy.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject is psychology. I find it to be an interesting subject as it can explain most situations and interactions. I enjoy that it’s a growing field which means there is always more to learn and discover. I also had an amazing teacher, Mrs. Walsh who answered all the further questions I had after class and helped guide me to find information for myself. Psychology is a course I think everyone should take as it allows us to better understand ourselves and others.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I have received high honors and academic excellence the past three years. I’m also a member of National Honor Society.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?
A. Yes, I’m currently the president of Unified Track and Field which has been a great experience. I made several friends and helped give special needs students a fun experience participating in a high school sports team. I helped create the new student mentor program and am part of the leadership committee. This has allowed me to help transition the freshmen and new students into our school. I’m also part of Aevidum and have participated in their trainings and a school held summit.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. Dealing with the fallout of actions that were not mine and balancing that with my own values and school life.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. My next goal after high school is to go to college at either Rutgers or University of Virginia. I want to study psychology and ultimately get my doctorate.
Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with an historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?
A. I would like to talk to Marie Curie; she was the first female to win a Nobel Prize and the only woman to win two. I think she’s very inspiring for women and proves to women they belong in scientific fields.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered for my perseverance and hard work in and out of the classroom.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. My advice for my peers is to stay true to what you value and don’t let others decide what you find important as well as to work hard and never leave yourself with the feeling of “Well I could’ve tried harder.”
