UPPER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP: Indoor Zumba for adults at Jaindl Elementary

Upper Macungie Township is offering an indoor Zumba program with instructor Donna Barats 6-7 p.m. Mondays Jan. 6 through Feb. 10 in the Jaindl Elementary School gymnasium.

This six-week session will help with cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, all while making friends and having a blast.

The township and Parkland School District are offering the following free classes for senior citizens, ages 55 and older, who reside in the school district.

Doable Yoga for Seniors will be offered from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 6-May 19 in the Kernsville Elementary School gym, and Wednesdays Jan. 8-May 21 in the Schnecksville Elementary School gym.

These classes will provide a gentle practice to improve the connection between body and mind.

Through a combination of seated floor positions (no chairs) and standing flow, participants will learn to maintain or increase range of motion, as well as improve balance.

Participants will need to bring a yoga mat.

St. Luke’s Health Network is offering a chair strength and mobility class 9-9:45 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays Jan. 8-Feb. 14 at St. Luke’s Fitness and Sports Performance Center, West End, 501 Cetronia Road, South Whitehall.

This class is a low-impact program designed to improve strength and mobility for adults of all activity levels.

It is movement-based training for persons who want to work on balance, coordination, agility and functional strength.

Mighty Kicks, a premier introductory soccer option for children ages 2-7 will take place Wednesdays, Jan. 8-Feb. 12 in the Veterans Elementary School gymnasium.

The Jan. 8 class will be held at Jaindl Elementary School.

This program is designed to build motor skills, life skills, self-confidence and basic soccer techniques.

Class times by age groups are: 5-5:30 p.m., 2-year-olds; 5:40-6:20 p.m., 3- to 4-year-olds; and 6:30-7:10 p.m. 5- to 7-year-olds.

There is a fee for residents and nonresidents.

Wildlands Conservancy is offering individuals and families a chance to partake in a variety of unique experiences to explore nature and wildlife.

A Footprint Tracking Workshop and Animal Presentation will take place 4-5 p.m. Jan. 18 at Lone Lane Park.

Learn how to locate and identify the tracks of various animals with the Wildlands crew.

They will be bringing along some animal friends to help with this workshop.

There is a small fee to participate.

The Nanny Loft LLC will be offering a Safe Sitter one-day course run by Safe Sitter certified instructors 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Jan. 20 in the main meeting room at the Upper Macungie Township Municipal Building, 8330 Schantz Road, Breinigsville.

Safe Sitter® is designed to prepare students in grades six to eight how to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger brothers or sisters, or babysitting.

Course learning objectives include General Safety, Childcare, First Aid and Rescue Skills and Life and Business Skills and an introduction to CPR.

Participants will receive a cinch bag with manual, flashlight, band-aid kit, emergency notepad, snacks and water.

Students will need to provide their own lunch.
