Unite and Fight rally

Press photo courtesy LV4ALLMembers of the Lehigh Valley Democrats gathered Nov. 23 at Payrow Plaza, Bethlehem, to share their concerns about the outcome of the Nov. 5 Presidential Election. Speakers included Lamont McClure, Northampton County executive; Mike Laws, PA Black Caucus chair; Barron Vandenburg, Northampton County Black Caucus co-chair; Kathy Harrington, Lehigh Valley for All (LV4ALL); David Harrington, an immigration lawyer and former Lehigh County commissioner; David’s son Jack Harrington; and Esther M. Lee, former president of NAACP Bethlehem. Though saddened by the election results, Lee said she is not giving up. “We can’t change anything by sitting in a dark room,” she said. Kathy Harrington said she is exhausted, but, “I don’t want my grandchildren to think they can bully, threaten and lie and expect to win.” Barron told those gathered that he does not have confidence in the government doing what is right. “We’ve been here before,” he said, “so we’ve got to encourage our friends and family to be active.”
