Holiday with the horses
Nonprofit Friends of the Bethlehem Mounted Patrol held its annual ‘Holiday with the Horses’ Dec. 8, with supporters enjoying refreshments, visits with the horses in the Quadrant Private Wealth Stable Facility, an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus, gifts for children, and an extra special visit by Einstein the Snow Camel.
Volunteers and mounted patrol officers Justin Madera and Ryan Danko fielded questions from attendees who wanted to learn more about the police patrol horses, which are funded through the nonprofit and community donations.
Brad Matey from the Peaceable Kingdom Petting Zoo delivered Einstein, whose celebrity status comes from his walk in a November 2018 snowstorm along Route 309 near Souderton as the trailer hauling him was navigating the slick roadway. The dromedary celebrity is now 16 years old and is always a favorite attraction.
The Mounted Patrol gift shop was also open so visitors could purchase mounted patrol gear as gifts or for themselves.
