Closing day of Kwanzaa: A seven day celebration of African American and Pan-African values of families, culture, community responsibility, commerce and self-improvement. These events represent harvest festival traditions from areas of Africa.
Ring in the New Year from 3 to 6 p.m. PEEPS Chick Drop at 5:35 p.m. followed by family-friendly activities and fireworks. Games, crafts from local nonprofit groups and interactive shows by the Wildlands Conservancy and the da Vinci Science Center. Stop by Peeps in the Kitchen with PBS39 for fun and tasty recipes. There are PEEPS Passports for kids under 12 to collect treats and build a custom goody bag. Tickets are limited for some of the events. Last of the eight days of Hanukkah/Chanukah, the Festival of Lights and the Feast of Dedication. Daily candle lightings until Dec. 15 are reminders of the rededication of the Second Temple of Jerusalem and Judaic ideals.
