Petrie drops 27 points on No. Lehigh

Salisbury snapped a two-game losing streak last week with a 77-49 win over Northern Lehigh.

The Falcons had just one game in the past week and head into the Christmas break with a 5-3 overall record and a 4-2 mark in the Colonial League.

The Bulldogs had no answer to stop Drew Petrie, who nailed three three-pointers and went 4-for-5 from the foul line. The end result was a game-high 27 points for Petrie.

Salisbury led by eight points at the end of the first half, outscored Northern Lehigh 24-8 in the second quarter and held a 43-19 lead at halftime. The Falcons put up another 24 points in the third quarter and led 67-35 going into the final period.

Steven Lozada was one of two Salisbury players to reach double digits in scoring, finishing with 17 points.

Salisbury leads the South Division with their 4-2 mark in the Colonial League, a half-game ahead of Saucon Valley, who stand at 4-3 in league games.

There is still a lot of basketball to play, but going into the holiday break, the Falcons would be seeded sixth in the league tournament if things finish the way they are now.

After the break, the Falcons have a pair of nonleague games as they play at Kutztown Friday and host Hamburg the following day.

The Falcons and Panthers will meet twice next month. Salisbury hosts Saucon Valley on the Jan. 9 and then travels to play the Panthers on Jan. 22.
