‘Perfect’ senior group led PHS soccer team
The Parkland High School boys soccer team had one the best season in program history in 2024.
The Trojans finished the year 25-3 overall and 17-0 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. They were the runner-up in the EPC tournament and won the District 11 4A championship, while making a run all the way to the PIAA state final before coming up just one goal shy in a double overtime loss to Cumberland Valley.
It was a historic season and one the program, led by head coach Scott Mang, will never forget.
“It was the best run that a Parkland boys soccer team has ever had and every minute of it was awesome,” said Mang.
Parkland is graduating a large senior class of 14 players, including Ramy Chaker, Cristian Cusumano, Caleb Daniels, Aderinmolu Olatilo, Nathan Park, Bryce Peters, Zach Reidy, Dylan Rochus, Zach Sallit, Jacob Silman, Daniel Sipling, Evan Sprunk, Kyle Tobia and Logan Williams.
“It was a huge senior class and they will be missed,” Mang said. “They worked very hard, were a pleasure to be around and their parents were so supportive of everyone on the team.
“It was exactly how I envisioned it would run when I took over three years ago. The boys are friends off of the field and support each other on the field. I’m not sure if we will ever go that big again because it has to be perfect, and this group of seniors was.”
Sprunk led the offense with 18 goals and Tobia, along with Lincoln Fritz had 10. Tobia, Silman and Talmage Pollard all were tied with the team lead in assists with eight. Sipling finished with 81 saves in net.
Now, Mang and the Trojans will look toward 2025 and finishing off that state title.
“I’m excited for next year because we have 10-15 kids coming back who all played significant minutes and were a key piece to the PIAA Championship run,” said Mang. “All the coaches are back, the junior varsity had a wonderful season and we think we have the formula to get back to states and take care of some unfinished business.”
