Hornets top Dieruff, fall to AH

The Emmaus High School boys basketball team has had a slow start to the 2024-25 regular season, but was able to end the 2024 portion of its schedule with some positive momentum.

After dropping their previous Eastern Pennsylvania Conference game at Liberty last Monday, the Green Hornets responded with a 54-28 win at home against Dieruff last Thursday.

This past Saturday afternoon, Emmaus went on the road in nonconference action and fell at Abington Heights 63-37.

In the win over the Huskies, the Hornets used a strong first half to take control of the game. They led 11-4 after the opening quarter and then outscored Dieruff 19-4 in the second quarter to take a 20-8 lead at halftime. Jack Csensits finished with a game-best 14 points and Owen Hafner tallied 10 points. Tyler Nunez recorded eight points and Gabe Kabba contributed seven points.

In the game with the Comets, Emmaus started from behind and was unable to comeback. Csensits recorded 15 points to pace the attack and Jake Ross added five points.

Emmaus, which is now 2-7 overall and 2-4 in the conference, will next compete in the new calendar year and will host Stroudsburg in conference action next Friday night. The next day, the Hornets will travel to Methacton for a nonconference game Saturday afternoon.
