Hornet girls basketball starts another win streak

The Emmaus High School girls basketball team recently posted its second three-game win streak of the 2024-25 season.

After suffering their first loss of the season to Hazleton on Dec. 6, the Hornets won their next three games with wins over Allen (55-13), East Stroudsburg North (71-13) and Liberty (59-40).

In the win against the Canaries, the Hornets led from start to finish as they scored 22 of the first 23 points and led 35-6 at halftime. Emmaus then outscored Allen 10-0 in the third quarter to roll to victory.

Gabby DeVita and Kayla Snyder both finished in double figures in scoring with DeVita tallying 17 points and Snyder totaling 11. Olive Whitney and Sofie Laird had six points, with Whitney draining a team-best two 3-pointers. Sylvia Sokolofski and Emma Naccarato recorded five points each.

In the win over the Timberwolves, Emmaus jumped out to a lead with one of its best quarters of the season, scoring a season-high 39 points and led 39-6 after the opening quarter. The Hornets shutout ESN in the second and led 55-6 at halftime. Snyder tallied a game-high 21 points and Whitney finished with 10 points, to lead a group of 12 different players to find the score column. Cassie Doemling added eight points.

Emmaus, which is now 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference, has two conference games this week before Christmas. The Hornets hosted Liberty this past Monday night and are at Dieruff on Thursday night.
