Albanese, Sallit go unbeaten at dual tourney

The Emmaus High School boys wrestling team won its first Eastern Pennsylvania Conference dual match of the 2024-25 regular season when it defeated East Stroudsburg South 66-5 last Wednesday. The Hornets competed at the Blue Raider Duals at Tamaqua High School this past weekend, winning four of their six dual matches.

In the win against the Cavaliers, the Hornets won 12 of the 13 bouts, including seven pins. Jackson Max won via forfeit at 107 pounds to begin the match, and then Emilio Albanese, Levi Max, Teagan Caciolo, Tommy Fallstich, Xyler Sallit and Chancellor Henry all earned pins on six consecutive bouts.

Logan Armstrong, Jesse Scott and Xayden Sallit all completed three straight wins by technical fall. Ashir Choudhry finished off a 4-2 decision at 189 pounds and then Logan Roth ended the match with a pin at 285 pounds to give Emmaus its first conference dual match victory.

At the Blue Raider Duals, Emmaus opened with wins over Tamaqua (58-15), Bangor (43-21) and Germantown Academy (33-29) before falling to Berks Catholic (44-17) and Central Dauphin (34-31). The Hornets beat Columbia Montour Vo-Tech (72-6) to finish off the day. The Green Hornets finished behind Berks Catholic (6-0), Central Dauphin (5-1) and Jim Thorpe (5-1) in the team standings.

On the top performer lists, Albanese and Xayden Sallit both ended with 7-0 records on the weekend.

Sallit posted five pins and one technical fall in seven bouts at Tamaqua, while Albanese won by fall twice and by tech fall three times in six contested bouts.

Teagan Caciolo won six bouts at the event, including three by tech. fall.

Emmaus competes at East Stroudsburg North in a conference dual Wednesday and then will have off until after Christmas before competing at the Bethlehem Holiday Classic at Liberty High School next Saturday and Sunday.
