The Get Out for Wellness series, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network, hosts a free sightseeing hike in downtown Bethlehem 10 a.m. to noon. The itinerary includes a walk through Nisky Hill Cemetery, a visit to “God’s Little Acre” cemetery to find headstones dating to the 1740s and stops at the Nain House, Hotel Bethlehem and Central Moravian Church. Hikers are encouraged to dress in layers and wear comfortable walking shoes. Dogs are not allowed in the two cemeteries. Participants will park near the Ice House, 56 River St., Bethlehem. St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus, will host “A German Christmas Service of Lessons and Carols” 5:45 p.m. The service will be spoken and sung in German and will include a candle lighting. Guest musicians will include Ted and Sarajane Williams. A reception will follow the service.

The League of Women Voters is hosting a “Running for Local Office Workshop” 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Cedar Crest College, 100 College Drive, Allentown. The workshop includes information on offices up for election, requirements and responsibilities of those offices. Candidates will learn what papers need to be filed and when, how to raise funds, how to get volunteers and more. There is a cost which includes a resource handbook and continental breakfast. The Get Out For Wellness series offers the “GOFW Stone Soup Stroll” 10 a.m. to noon at Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary, 3701 Orchid Place, Emmaus. Hikers will explore the trails of the sanctuary and help cook a “stone soup” by bringing an ingredient for the vegetarian or meat soup options. Participants may bring a vegetable, canned or fresh, to add to the soups or bring rolls for dipping and dunking in the soup. The soup will be made over open fires on the sanctuary campus. The event is free and registration continues to Jan. 17, 2025. The event is appropriate for all ages and hikers are encouraged to dress in layers for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Lehigh Valley Health Network will host public CPR classes offering lifesaving skills at the George E. Moerkirk Emergency Medicine Institute training center at Lehigh Valley Health Network. Certified instructors will teach hands-on techniques, including chest compressions and rescue breaths, to help participants confidently respond in emergency situations, such as choking emergencies. All classes are held 6-10 p.m. at LVHN—Mack Boulevard, 2100 Mack Blvd., Allentown. This is the first session of 2025 and classes are offered each month. Registration is required.
