Bus trips planned through the Emmaus Historical Society

The Emmaus Historical Society and Museum, 218 Main St., is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Stop by for a visit and experience the beautiful, vintage, holiday décor as well as the only train display in Emmaus.

There will be no program/membership meeting in January 2025 but save the date for the program Feb. 19, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Parish Hall, 501 Chestnut St.

This program will be a presentation of “The Fries Rebellion” movie, a historical docudrama produced by the Lower Macungie Township Historical Society. The movie was filmed at many local historical sites. Programs are free and members and nonmembers are welcome to attend.

The historical society’s fundraising committee is planning events for 2025. Lucky Bucks Bingo is back. Save the date for March 16, 2025. Tickets go on sale Jan. 6, 2025 online at lehighvalleychamber.org/events or at the Emmaus Jewel Shop and the Emmaus Historical Society.

Bus trips are scheduled; call Nancy at 610-967-5715 for more information and to register for the Philadelphia Flower Show, March 6, 2025; Hunterdon Hills, “Swing the Musical” May 6, 2025 and American Music Theater, “Deck the Halls,” Nov. 12, 2025. The society is looking forward to seeing regulars and new faces.

The society’s museum committee appreciates all donations of memorabilia that came from, was used or enjoyed by those in Emaus/Emmaus. The Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus, has a plethora of events coming up in January 2025. At 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday there will be a winter story time where children can listen to a book and complete crafts and games. Also on Wednesdays is the crochet group 6 p.m. where you can learn to crochet with advice from those who are more experienced.

The library also offers many writing workshops for adults and teens throughout the month, along with book groups and support groups. For more information about the events, visit the website emmauspl.org or visit their Facebook and Instagram.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus, will host “A German Christmas Service of Lessons and Carols” 5:45 p.m. Jan. 5, 2025. The service will be spoken and sung in German and will include a candle lighting. Guest musicians will include Ted and Sarajane Williams. A reception will follow the service.

The League of Women Voters is hosting a “Running for Local Office Workshop” 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 11, 2025 at Cedar Crest College, 100 College Drive, Allentown. The workshop includes information on offices up for election, requirements and responsibilities of those offices. Candidates will learn what papers need to be filed and when, how to raise funds, how to get volunteers and more. There is a cost which includes a resource handbook and continental breakfast. The Emmaus Farmers Market will be open rain or shine at Triangle Park, Emmaus 10 a.m. to noon on the second and fourth Sundays January through April 2025.
