‘The Fries Rebellion’ viewings available

The film, “The Fries Rebellion,” can be seen at the Bartholomew Center for the Preservation of Lower Macungie Township History at Camp Olympic barn 1-4 p.m. Sundays.

The Lower Macungie Township Senior Citizens will meet noon Jan. 7, 2025. The entertainment will be the new local film “The Fries Rebellion.” The next meeting will be Jan. 21, 2025.

Concordia Lutheran Preschool will have a registration day open house to enroll students 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 20, 2025. The staff will be giving tours and accepting registration for the 2025-2026 school year. For more information, call 610-965-3265.

Lower Macungie Community Center is collecting children’s new pajamas and books during the holiday season. Items will be donated to Lehigh County Children and Youth Services. Collection bins are in the lobby through Dec. 27.

Curbside Christmas tree collection will occur Jan. 1-17, 2025 on your regular trash collection day. Remove all decorations and do not bind with rope or string or place in plastic bag. Trees can also be dropped off at the Yard Waste Recycling Center, 5536 Indian Creek Road.

Lower Macungie Township now offers indoor pickleball at the community center gymnasium. Advance registration is required.

Open gym is available at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center. Residents must purchase an annual membership to use the gym.

Lower Macungie Township offers many programs for adults and children. For more information, go to http://www.lowermac.com/recreation/activities-programs/. Adult classes include baking, belly dance, yoga, karate, ballroom dance and tai chi. Youth classes include cooking, Kindermusik, Safe Sitter, tennis, pre-ballet and tot sports.

Yard waste center hours for December are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The center will be closed Dec. 23 through Jan. 1, 2025. Winter hours for January and February, 2025 are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Yard waste permits are required for drop-off. The center is located at 5536 Indian Creek Road, Macungie.

Lower Macungie Library hours are 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The library will be closed Dec. 24-25 for winter holiday and Jan. 1, 2025 for New Year’s Day. The library will close 1:30 p.m. Dec. 31.

Builder’s Brigade for grades K-5 will meet 5-6 p.m. Dec. 19 to create with Lego, K’NEX, Lincoln Logs and more.

The Alburtis Afternoon Book Club will meet 1-2:30 p.m. Dec. 19 to discuss “The Downstairs Girl” by Stacey Lee. The book for Jan. 16, 2025 will be chosen at the December meeting. The book club meets at the Alburtis Community Center.

There will be a Sensory Movie Matinee 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 7, 2025 for adults with developmental disabilities and their caregivers.

There will be a Build It! Block Party for ages 2-6 years 10-11 a.m. Jan. 8, 2025.

I don’t use profanity often but occasionally my language can get a little spicy when I make a mess in the kitchen. Our dogs have learned to equate my bad language with “there must be food on the floor.” Now whenever they hear $%#!&, they come running to the kitchen to see what happened.
