PRESS PHOTO BY JIM MARSHFor many years, Santa has visited youngsters in the Alton Park area of Salisbury and Allentown at Christmastime, riding on the back of Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company’s antique 1966 American LaFrance fire engine. With the antique fire engine in the shop for repairs, organizers for the Mountainville Lions Club’s annual Santa run had to come up with another idea. The answer was a 2014 Ford Mustang convertible for Santa and Mrs. Claus, assisted by Zack Dimovitz and Sherry Hillborn, to ride the neighborhoods, with Salisbury’s Joe Sizer as the driver. Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company firefighter Kevin Krotzer drove the accompanying fire engine and firefighter Cary Vaupel sounded the siren to let youngsters know Santa was in the neighborhood. Lions Club members Stephanie Schultz and Helen Jenny, in the fire engine cab, kept track of treats Santa provided for his fans.
