Melvin Earl Foster

worked in Muhlenberg College maintenance

Melvin Earl Foster, who would have been 80 on Dec. 29 died suddenly Dec. 9, 2024.

Born and raised in Laurel, Md., he worked for General Services Administration in the Washington, D.C., Labor Department and also Capitol Centre, Landover, Md. in the early 1970s where he enjoyed many rock concerts.

In 1981, he moved his young family to New Tripoli and began a new life chapter.

He joined Schuler Service, Allentown, and eventually began working for Muhlenberg College’s maintenance department.

He was the best dad in the world to Tracy L. Richards and Lisa M. Foster, as well as being the best Pap ever to Trinity J. Deppen, Jack Owen Davis, Ryan D. Richards, David E. Richards and Savannah A. LaBar. Brett Stelcik, a son from a former marriage, resides in California.

Although he retired from his public work life many years ago, he continued doing plumbing and maintenance as a part-time job.

He could always be counted on to help anyone in need and, always with a smile.

He is survived by a sister, Alice Rose; brothers Lawrence and Robert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was excited to learn recently that his first great-grandchild is arriving in April.

He was predeceased by brothers Stuart Lee and William John.

He will be missed by all.
