Sophomore Mabry Krause turned in two top-five finishes in individual events and another in relays as the Emmaus Hornets swam in the State College Quad Meet last week, their first quad meet of the season.
Krause took third place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.63 and was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke.
In relays, Krause teamed with freshman Keilani Silva and seniors Natalie Cheplick and Veronica Karboski in the 400-yard freestyle. The foursome turned in a time of 3:44.46, which left them in fourth place.
The girls’ 200-yard freestyle team took fifth with Silva, Karboski, Cheplick and Sophia Harmon finishing with a time of 1:42.84.
In addition to swimming in the 400-yard freestyle relay, Silva competed in the 100-yard freestyle in individual events and finished fourth and turned in a time of 54.74 that left her just 00.11 behind teammate Krause. The top two spots were both taken by swimmers from Mercersburg.
Karboski swam the 50-yard freestyle and finished fifth with a time of 25.57 for Emmaus. Harmon also turned in a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, which left her jus . 05 out of State College’s Inhye Sung for fourth place.
North Allegheny took the top spot among the girls with 612 team points, followed by State College (599), Mercersburg (526), and Emmaus (336). The Hornets return to EPC dual meets against Allentown Central Catholic and Pocono Mountain East over the next week.
