Hawks look to iron out wrinkles

Bethlehem Catholic is off to a slow start on hardwood this season, but the Hawks hope to find their footing as the season progresses.

Becahi is off to a 2-5 start on the year and have lost three straight games heading into this week. Head coach Scott McClary knew this year’s group would go through some growing pains early in the year and hopes that things balance themselves out moving forward.

“Obviously, we have been struggling a bit with winning,” he said. “I feel we have been progressing better than our record thus far as we haven’t played a single game yet against a team with a losing record. We lost 12 players from last year’s program so its an adjustment for us all. I love our process and can see a ton of improvement with our guys, even if it hasn’t shown up yet in the win column.”

Ethan Roman has led the team in scoring, averaging 18 points a game this season, but he’s really been the only contributor averaging double digits on any given night. The schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Hawks this week when they took on Whitehall (4-2) to kick things off, but then face a struggling East Stroudsburg South (1-3) team.

“This is a big week as we have Whitehall, who might be the best team in the EPC, followed by East Stroudsburg South on Thursday to close out our games before Christmas,” he said. “We have played eight games in a 15 day block, so not a lot of time to put in work on the practice floor, which we look forward to getting over the break.”
