The Emmaus High School boys wrestling team began its 2024-25 regular season last week with an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference dual match against the league’s most dominant team in recent years in Bethlehem Catholic.
The Hornets fell to the Golden Hawks 43-14 last Wednesday night. They followed that up with a sixth-place finish at the Tom Best Memorial Top Hat Tournament at Williamsport High School last weekend.
Against the Golden Hawks, Emmaus dropped the first nine rounds and fell behind 38-0.
Logan Roth earned the Hornet’ first victory at 285 pounds with a 5-1 decision. Emmaus ton two of the last three bouts as Emilio Albanese won by technical fall 21-3 in 5:39 at 114 pounds and then Levi Max rounded out the match with a forfeit victory at 121 pounds.
At Williamsport, Emmaus placed sixth out of 24 teams.
Highlighting the individual accomplishments was Albanese, who won the 114-pound weight class. Jackson Max and Jesse Scott each placed second at 107 and 160 pounds, respectively. Also, Xayden Sallit earned a 4-1 decision to finish third at 172, while both Camren Martinez and Teagan Caciolo recorded fourth place finishes at 107 and 127 pounds, respectively.
Emmaus has its home opener Wednesday when it welcomes East Stroudsburg South for a conference dual. The Hornets travel to Tamaqua High School Saturday for the Blue Raider Duals.
