Roughies Report: CHS students dismissed early

Catasauqua Area School District will have early dismissal Dec. 20.

Catasauqua High School students will be dismissed 11:15 a.m. No lunches will be served.

CASD will be closed from Dec. 23 through Jan. 5, 2025. Schools will reopen and classes will resume Jan. 6, 2025.

Mark your calendar: There will be no school Jan. 20, 2025, for Martin Luther King Day and Jan. 27, 2025, for a teacher in-service.

Bus drivers are needed. Catasauqua Area School District offers training opportunities for individuals interested in obtaining their commercial driver’s license. A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license is needed, and clearances are required.

The starting pay is $22.54 per hour.

Lehigh Career and Technical Institute’s animal sciences and emerging health professionals programs are currently accepting applications for the 2025-26 school year. These programs are a perfect fit for rising high school seniors who plan to pursue careers centered around the care/treatment of animals and health care.

For the animal sciences program, made possible by the partnership of LCTI, Lehigh Valley Zoo, Macungie Animal Hospital and Lehigh Carbon Community College, this dual-enrollment program is designed to give students a head-start on college and expose them to a variety of professions in animal sciences and veterinary medicine through job shadows, hands-on training and clinical study at facilities across the region.

For the emerging health professionals, made possible by the partnership of LCTI, Lehigh Carbon Community College, Penn State Lehigh Valley and Lehigh Valley Health Network, this dual-enrollment program is designed to give students a head-start on college and expose them to a variety of health care careers through job shadows, hands-on training and clinical study at facilities across the region.

Those wishing to apply should thoroughly review the materials in each part before beginning the programs’ online application.
