Coplay: Holiday train display is open
Explorer Post 101’s mission is to promote interest in the hobby of model railroading to 12- to 21-year-olds.
Visit the annual fundraiser holiday train display open house 7-9 p.m. Dec. 19 and Jan. 2, 2025, and noon-4 p.m. Dec. 21, 22, 28 and 29 and Jan. 4 and 5, 2025, in room 201 at Coplay Borough Hall, 98 S. Fourth St.
Join the new Explorer Post for youths ages 12-14. Meetings are held 7-9 p.m. Thursdays on the second floor of the municipal building.

Mayor Joseph Bundra’s holiday safety tip is to drive carefully as there will be increased traffic during the holiday shopping season.

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., will sponsor its annual Silvester Feier New Year’s Eve celebration, scheduled for 3-7 p.m. Dec. 31 in the social hall. Ring in the New Year 6 p.m., which is midnight in Vienna.
The event includes a 3 p.m. hot meal and music 4-7 p.m. by the Emil Schanta Band. There will be a buffet, beer, wine, soda, water and juice. Cake with coffee will be served 5 p.m., and there will be hats and noisemakers with a Champagne toast 6 p.m.

Do not forget those in need during the holiday season. Coplay Food Bank, in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.
If unable to attend the scheduled time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.
The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

The public works crew reminds residents garbage cans in excess of 30 gallons will not be collected.
If you have large items, call the borough office at 610-262-6088 to schedule pickups of items such as sofas, plastic-encased mattresses, chairs, dressers, etc. There is a limit of two per year at no charge.

Hometown Hero banner applications are available at the borough office. Publicly honor your war heroes and first responders — police officers, firefighters and ambulance personnel — with a banner.
