Breakfast benefits food pantry
The Chapman Lodge 637 partnered with the WolfPack Search and Recovery organization to hold the second annual breakfast with Santa Dec. 8 at the Lodge, 1103 Sixth St., North Catasauqua.
Santa Claus circulated around the room and had a comfortable set up to hear what the youngsters want for Christmas and for photos. There were abundant smiles as patrons, young or old, interacted with Santa.
A full breakfast buffet was offered for attendees. The Lodge social hall had a constant stream of patrons during the 8 a.m.-noon event.
The breakfast benefits the Northampton Area Middle School food pantry. The pantry sends an unmarked backpack with easy-to-prepare meals and personal hygienic items home with students in need each Friday. Mug cakes and small treats are sent home to celebrate birthdays. Full Thanksgiving dinners are provided to families in need.
The closet program provides winter coats for families. Last year, new winter coats were given to families at the middle school. Canned goods and coats were collected at the breakfast.
The Lodge and the WolfPack Search and Recovery will also benefit from the event.
Last year, it was reported nearly 300 people attended the inaugural breakfast. The leaders of the event estimated as many as 400 attendees would stream through this year. It was a beautiful event supporting important causes that strengthen the surrounding community.
