Rimple Men’s Soccer PSAC Champion Scholar
After an all-conference season defending the goal, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced that Bloomsburg men’s soccer goalkeeper Brady Rimple (Northampton) is the PSAC Champion Scholar for men’s soccer.
Rimple, in pursuit of his master’s degree, completed his undergraduate degree this past spring as a business management major, compiling 149 credits with a 3.934 grade point average. Rimple is the third men’s soccer student-athlete and the 14th Bloomsburg student-athlete to earn the honor. The Cherryville native was named a first-team All-PSAC East selection.
A consistent presence in the net, Rimple etched his name into the Bloomsburg record books. The graduate student became the Huskies’ all-time career shutout leader, becoming the first netminder in program history to reach 20 clean sheets. Before reaching the career milestone, Rimple set the single-season program record with nine solo scoreless outings, adding a combined shutout to give the graduate student 9.5 on the season and 20.5 overall. Rimple garnered his first all-conference accolade and first-team All-PSAC honors following a year leading the Huskies to the best defense in the PSAC. In 17 regular-season starts, the goalkeeper had a 0.72 goals against average with a .778 save percentage and 42 total stops. Rimple led Bloomsburg to conference-best marks in goals against average (0.67), save percentage (.789) and shutouts (11).
Initiated for the 2011-12 academic year, the PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA’s Elite 90 awards and honor the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC’s 22 team championship finals.
The Champion Scholar is awarded to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at each of the league’s 22 championship finals sites. Nominees must have completed a minimum of 48 credit hours and be at least in their second year of competition.
