Linda “Linnie” A. Baker

Emmaus High School graduate

Linda “Linnie” Anne Trexler Baker, 80, died Nov. 26, 2024, in her home in Venice, Fla.

Born in Allentown, she was a child of the late Dorothy Rothrock Trexler and Frederic Trexler.

She graduated from Emmaus High School in 1961, where she was class secretary, president of the synchronized swimming club and gymnastics club and captain of the hockey, softball and swimming and diving teams. She was active (and was married in) the Emmaus Moravian Church.

She attended Moravian Academy Prep School in Bethlehem and then attended Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Del. from 1962-1964, where she studied business and was a cheerleader (captain) on the Homecoming Court and treasurer of Alpha Iota sorority.

She was engaged to Robert “Bobby” Tams of Wilmington, Del. before he was killed in Vietnam. She married Steven Crosley in 1967 and married Philip A. Baker in 1981.

She worked at Boy Scouts of America, National Association of Schools and Publishers, Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., Volkert, Digital Equipment Corporation, Scottish Rite, IBM and A.C. Nielsen Company.

Her passion was helping and coaching children; she was a special-education teacher, diving coach (winning the Illinois State Championship), swim therapist and aide for brain damaged children, gymnastics coach, physical education aide and learning disabilities aide.

She is survived by daughters Kristin Joy Crosley, of Arvada, Colo., Kim Elizabeth Crosley, of Castle Rock, Col., Melissa Baker Nimke (Bill), of Mequon, Wis., Kristin Elaine Larpenter (Jeff Blair), of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; grandsons, Will Nimke, Alex Larpenter (Sofiya), Kip Larpenter, Teddy Larpenter; great-grandson, Julien Larpenter; brother, Roger Bruce Trexler, of Emmaus; special family members, Gregory Hannah and Jay James; extended family members and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband in 2020.

A small celebration of life for family and close friends will be held in the future in Venice, Fla. and Emmaus.
