John M. Morris Jr.

passionate about flying

John M. Morris Jr., 80, of Macungie, died Dec. 1, 2024, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He was the fiancé of Constance Baran.

Born in Riverside, N.J., he was the son of the late John Morris Sr. and Victoria (Green) Morris.

For 37 years he operated the Colebrook Tavern, in Lebanon, which he owned with his siblings.

Before purchasing the tavern, he was a manager at Woolworth’s for 21 years, traveling to various cities launching new retail branches.

Earlier in life, he enlisted and honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Passionate about flying, he earned his pilot’s license in 1989 and promptly purchased his very own plane, a 1964 Piper Cherokee N25D.

Although aviation was his passion, his true joy came from spending time with his fiancee’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his fiancée and her daughters Michelle Reichenbach (Dan) of Allentown and Cheri Longenbach (Todd) of Macungie, he is survived by siblings, Fred Morris (Cynthia) of Oaklyn, N.J., and Lauretta Morris (Claire) of Lititz; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Morris.

His memorial service will take place 11 a.m. Dec. 14 at Keller Funeral Home, 1018 Church St., Fogelsville. Visitation is 10-11 a.m.
