Coplay: Santa parade set for Dec. 15

Coplay Sports will hold its annual Santa parade Dec. 15. Rain/snow dates have been set for Dec. 21 or 22.

Drop off gifts 6-8 p.m. Dec. 13 or 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 14 at Coplay Sports Fieldhouse, 666 Potter Terrace. Make sure to clearly mark the name and address of the gift recipient.

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., will sponsor its annual Silvester Feier New Year’s Eve celebration, scheduled for 3-7 p.m. Dec. 31 in the social hall. Ring in the New Year 6 p.m., which is midnight in Vienna.

The event includes a hot meal 3 p.m. and music 4-7 p.m. by the Emil Schanta Band. There will be a buffet, beer, wine, soda, water and juice. Cake with coffee will be served 5 p.m., and there will be hats and noisemakers with a Champagne toast 6 p.m.

There is a cost, and reservations are required. Seats are limited. Call Cathy at 610-262-8372 or Evelyn at 484-281-3025 to get your tickets.

Do not forget those in need during the holiday season and throughout the year. Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building at 98 S. Fourth St, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

Explorer Post 101’s mission is to promote interest in the hobby of model railroading to 12- to 21-year-olds. Visit the annual fundraiser holiday train display open house noon-4 p.m. Dec. 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29 and Jan. 4 and 5, 2025, and 7-9 p.m. Dec. 19 and Jan. 2, 2025, in room 201 at Coplay Borough Hall, 98 S. Fourth St.

Join the new Explorer Post for youths ages 12-14. Meetings are every Thursday 7-9 p.m. on the second floor of the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St.

The public works department reminds residents garbage cans in excess of 30 gallons will not be collected.

If you have large items, call the borough office at 610-262-6088 to schedule pickups of sofas, plastic-encased mattresses, chairs, dressers, etc. There is a limit of two per year at no charge.
