Experience is written all over the 2024-2025 Whitehall girls basketball team led by senior captains Nya Brown, Jade Alvarez, and Keona Spooner.
Also returning is sophomore Makaela Bordner who is back from ACL surgery and was the Zephyrs’ leading scorer prior to injury.
“Nya Brown has made tremendous progress and has shown improvements in all aspects of her game,” said Whitehall second-year head coach James Middleton. “Jade Alvarez has a lot of size and athleticism and will be a handful in the low post.”
Coach Middleton expects to challenge teams with the Zephyrs’ length and physicality.
“We have a lot of size and multi-sport athletes who have been playing varsity for two years,” he said.
Middleton will be joined by head assistant coach and Easton Area High School teammate Zack Hankerson.
“He is a 1,000 point scorer in his career and was a mentor for me when I was a freshman,” said Middleton. “I believe adding him to the staff will make us a much better team and more efficient offensively. We will try to implement the old school Easton mentality from Coach Jim Hutnik: defensive mindset. We want to be physical and impose our will.”
Whitehall’s first test within the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference will be a home game against Dieruff on Dec. 2.
Keona Spooner, right, is a key, returning member of the WHS girls basketball team.
