Trojan girls soccer worked together

The Parkland High School girls soccer team recently finished its 2024 season. Unlike the last 11 seasons, the Trojans did not come away with either an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference or District 11 gold medal.

Parkland finished the year with a 17-4-2 overall record and 14-1-1 mark in the conference. The Trojans were the runners-up in the EPC Tournament and were downed in the District 11 4A semifinal round by rival Emmaus to conclude the year.

“Every season is different,” said head coach Al Haddad. “I felt the players did an outstanding job of adjusting to a new season, hurdles they faced and adversity along the way. The defense had 17 shut outs. That can never be ignored.

“We didn’t have individual standouts but rather a collective group that worked together in a team sport.”

Just like every season, there were some highs and some lows. Haddad highlighted some of his favorite memories both on the field and off the field with the 2024 edition of his program.

“I felt we played an outstanding game against Central Dauphin, who was ranked No. 1 in the state,” Haddad said. “Although it was a 2-1 loss, the players responded to formation change and tactics superbly. As far as a moment, easily spending half day with children from Center City Allentown, reading and playing with them with both squads.”

The Trojans graduate seven seniors this year, including Aamina Bhanji, Kendall Billie, Delaney Chilcote, LaMiah Clemons, Trisevgeni Gougoustamos, Julia Hayward and Emma Hull. Parkland will still have some talent and experience coming back in 2025, looking to bring some gold back to the program.

“Every class is special,” said Haddad. “Watching them mature over their four years is always fun to watch. The most important thing for me is the connection that we maintain as they pursue their collegiate careers and beyond. The nucleus of starters and experience coming back is always exciting and puts us back into position to reach our goals for next season.”
