Seniors working to unify FHS girls

Unity will be the name of the game for Freedom’s girls basketball team this season.

“Our seniors...are working tirelessly to build unity between all our players at the junior high, JV, and varsity level,” said Patriot coach Deanna Radio. “I could not be prouder of the leadership I’ve seen from these young women through the start of the season.”

Maia D’Amico, Siara Gonzalez, Sara Kokolus, and Kate Assad will serve as Freedom’s captains.

Other key returners include Gabby Sena and Jayleece Baker.

“Our team will challenge others through our relentless defense, fast-paced offense, and strong team chemistry,” Coach Radio said. “We focus on outworking our opponents, adapting to game situations, and capitalizing on our strengths to control the game.”

Radio has a number of new players gaining experience at the varsity level due to the graduation of seven seniors, five of whom were starters.

“While it will be an adjustment for them, I look forward to how they will rise to the occasion and compete with the other teams in the area this season,” she said.

Freedom’s first matchup will have been a home game against Nazareth on Dec. 2.
