Roughies Report: Meals available for students through USDA program

All Catasauqua Area School District students who currently receive free or reduced-price school meals can get the nutrition they need when schools are closed — whether during summer break or unexpected closures during the academic year. Through the USDA’s summer meal programs, approved sites in communities can serve meals to kids up to age 18 at no cost. Families can visit fns.usda.gov/summer/sitefinder to look up hours of operation, directions and contact information for nearby meal sites.

Answers to common questions about summer meal operations can be found at fns.usda.gov/cn/common-questions.

Families seeking food assistance for their children can also contact the USDA National Hunger Hotline at hungerfreeamerica.org/en-us/usda-national-hunger-hotline, which is operated by Hunger Free America. The hotline can be reached 7 a.m.-10 p.m., ET, Mondays-Fridays at 1-866-348-6479 for English or 1-877-842-6273 for Spanish.
