Robert W. Brownbridge, 97, of Macungie, died Nov. 25, 2024. Known throughout his life as Bob, he was born in East Orange, N.J. He was the son of the late Arthur and Alice (Granger) Brownbridge. He was the loving husband of B. Claire (Benton) Brownbridge with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
He graduated from West Orange High School, N.J. in 1945. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Fargo as a Seaman 2nd Class.
He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church of Emmaus and a member of the Board of Adjustment in Stanhope, N.J., for many years.
He was a designer draftsman for Bell Labs in Whippany, N.J. and retired in 1989.
He was an avid bicyclist and he rode up until his early 80s. He also loved to play bocce which he was a captain and won many trophies and games and bowled for many years as well. He was passionate when it came to doing crossword puzzles. He never knew a stranger and was quick with a friendly “hello.” He lived a full and meaningful life.
He is survived by his son, Clifford R. and his wife, Deborah; daughter, Elaine C. Smits and her husband, Joseph; grandchildren, Adam, Aaron and Amanda, Christy and Katie Smits and Elise Jones; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Greyson, Eva and Giavana. He was predeceased by his sister, Doris A. (Brownbridge) Kuning.
