To the Editor:
Some people in Northampton Area School District want to keep Moore Elementary School open. As I understand it, there are maybe seven options to do that, ranging from $20 million to $70-plus million, and the people who want this prefer the most expensive option, which will take maybe three-plus years to destroy the old and build the new facility.
Now, during this three-plus-year period, Moore Elementary students will be educated at the new Route 329 East Allen location. If Moore students can be housed at East Allen for three-plus years, someone please tell us taxpayers why we need a Moore Elementary School at all? I suggest selling the Moore property, as is, to the highest bidder and move on and keep the affected students at the East Allen location.
It’s obvious we don’t need a Moore Elementary School as this issue is purely emotional for the people who want it.
We can’t afford to spend another $70-plus million.
