Juried art show continues through Dec. 27

Attention art lovers.

The 20th annual juried art exhibition at Southern Lehigh Public Library continues through Dec. 27.

The library is located at 3200 Preston Lane, Center Valley and is the home library for residents of Lower Milford Township.

Stop in to see the work of the artists who earned first, second and third place in the exhibition and an array of interesting and unique art pieces.

Book lovers may want to stop by the book sale room during their next visit to the library, especially Dec. 27-30 for a half-price sale on all holiday items.

The library is open 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Book fans in Upper Milford Township may want to visit their home library, aka the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus, 6-8 p.m. Dec. 6 for the holiday book sale hosted by the Friends of the Emmaus Public Library.

The library also will be among sites welcoming visitors to Old Fashioned Christmas in Emmaus events Dec. 7. There will be opportunities to make holiday ornaments and crafts throughout the day. Library users are encouraged to check out holiday books, CDs and DVDs too.

Upper Milford Township recently extended hours at its seasonal yard waste collection area through Dec. 15. The extension is to encourage use of the yard waste collection during Lehigh County’s continuing burn ban.

Hours for drop off are noon to 4 p.m. Monday; 1 p.m. to dusk Wednesday; 8 a.m. to noon Friday; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Regular winter hours of operation are anticipated to return Dec. 16. Those hours are 1-5 p.m. Wednesdays and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

St. Peter’s Union Church, 7863 St. Peters Road, will host a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, 7 p.m. All are welcome.

Please note burn bans remain in effect in Upper Milford and Lower Milford townships.

The Upper Milford Township Board of Supervisors will next meet 7 p.m. Dec. 5 for a budget meeting. Information about an online option and additional meeting details and materials are available on the township’s website, www.uppermilford.net. The meeting will be held at the township building, 5671 Chestnut St. Supervisors also are scheduled to meet 7 p.m. Dec. 19.

Lower Milford Township supervisors next meet 6:30 p.m. Dec. 19 at the township building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road.

The township office in Lower Milford will be closed Dec. 24 and 25 and Jan. 1, 2025. Upper Milford Township offices will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 31 and Jan. 1, 2025.

Both townships will hold reorganization meetings Jan. 6, 2025. Check the respective township websites for additional details.
