Habitat for Humanity Gingerbread competition Dec. 19

Emmaus High School’s Habitat for Humanity Club will hold a fundraiser in the form of a gingerbread house competition Dec. 19. This competition is open to all EHS students.

Teams composed of up to six students are eligible to enter and there is a cost to enter per team. In order to register for the competition, one student per team must fill out the registration Google Form located on their “Class of” Schoology page. Registration is due Dec. 12 and payment is due Dec. 13 in Room 229. Checks should be made out to Emmaus High School and delivered to Maria Russo.

Outside materials are allowed in the competition, but they are required to be edible and cannot be premade; for example, glue, clay and similar materials are not allowed. Prizes will be awarded in categories of “Most Creative,” “Most Festive” and “Best Overall.” Students can email mrusso@eastpennsd.org with any questions.

EHS’ annual spring musical this year will be based off the classic musical “Mamma Mia.” Auditions for the musical will be held 2:30-6 p.m. Dec. 12, 13 and 16 each day. Stage crew applications are also now available. All information is available on the theater department Schoology page. All forms are due back by Dec. 9 and students can reach out to Jill Kuebler at jkuebler@eastpennsd.org with any questions.

The EHS Red Cross Club is sponsoring a blood drive through the Lehigh Valley Health Network. The drive runs every day except Sundays at the LVHN Cedar Crest location. Students who donate blood and show proof can receive a bag of candy from the Red Cross Club in Room 16. They will also receive a Miller-Keystone Blood Donation T-shirt after donating.

The annual Winter Choral Concert will occur Dec. 10. Last year, several groups performed including a cappella groups, Fermata Nowhere and Accabella; the EHS Chorale; the Tenor-Bass Choir and Bella Voce.

Interact Club is again holding its annual “Operation Giggles” toy drive. They are collecting new and unused toys for donation to patients in the Lehigh Valley Riley Children’s Hospital. Boxes are placed outside Room 216 for donation and will be available until Dec. 10. They will collect infant/toddler toys like rattles, teething rings, stuffed animals, etc. as well as arts/crafts kits and school-age toys such as Legos, k’nex and action figures and dolls. Students can contact Peyton Kilka at pkilka26@eastpennsd.org with any questions or concerns.

Student Forum is hosting a toiletries drive to support families unexpectedly staying overnight at Lehigh Valley Hospital. Donations of travel-sized shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hairbrushes and similar items are greatly appreciated. The drive runs through Dec. 10 and items can be dropped off in the counseling office.
