Conditional use hearing for Vipan Properties held

There was a conditional use hearing held during the Nov. 21 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting about the Vipan Properties at 5329-5373 Hamilton Blvd.

The applicant proposes to consolidate five lots into one and develop two buildings for a combined square footage of 10,000 feet.

The purpose suggested is for a restaurant and retail space with outdoor seating. The entrance would be directly across from Meadowyck Condominiums.

After the hearing there was a period for questions from the commissioners.

Board President Brian Higgins expressed his concern for entry of fire apparatus, due to the turning radius. He also questioned the reverse runnage in the back of one of the buildings. It was also noted the refuse area is very small. A suggestion of taller buffering was mentioned.

Solicitor David Brooman spoke about additional buffering for the western portion. He also seemed concerned for the lack of room for fire vehicles to enter the area.

The project was tabled until further investigation can be completed.

A resident of Farmington Hills spoke about the game of cricket which is played regularly out in the area of this development. There have been complaints about noise. The commissioners want to see this activity continue but need to find a more suitable location.

Leaf collection is coming to a close in the township.

There was an executive session held for personnel issues and pending litigation.
