Dec. 4

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold free food distributions 2-4 p.m. Wednesdays in December. Also Dec. 11 and 18. Note the food cupboard will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Recipients must reside in the East Penn School District. Signs will be posted for where to park and which door to use to pick up food.

Dec. 5

Salisbury High School musicians will present a winter concert 7 p.m. at the high school, 500 E. Montgomery St. Students will be joined on stage by staff and alumni.

Dec. 6

The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library will host its annual holiday book sale 6-8 p.m. at the library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus. Items for sale traditionally include holiday books for all ages, recent fiction and nonfiction titles, puzzles, CDs and DVDs. Refreshments will include hot cocoa and cookies. All sales are cash or check only.

Dec. 7

Old Fashioned Christmas in Triangle Park, Emmaus, 4-7 p.m. featuring a tree lighting 6:30 p.m., visits with Santa, musical performances, a free holiday movie screening at the Emmaus Theatre, Fourth Street and other activities. Participating sites include the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St. and the Emmaus Historical Society, 218 Main St.

Dec. 8

The East Penn Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Borough of Alburtis for its annual Holiday Festival and Tree Lighting Ceremony. The day includes activities at the Alburtis Area Community Center, businesses throughout the borough, the Alburtis Fire Company and Alburtis Park ending with a tree lighting 5 p.m. For more information, contact haydenr@lehighvalleychamber.org.

The Emmaus Chorale will present the program “Welcome Yole!” 3 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3002 N. Second St., Emmaus. Admission is free and free will offerings are welcome. A reception will follow the program.

Dec. 13

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold a free community meal 4-5:30 p.m. inside fellowship hall. The menu will be meatloaf, baked potato, green beans, roll and butter and dessert. Take out is also available.

Dec. 14

The annual Macungie Holiday event begins 9 a.m. Activities will include a scavenger hunt, a craft show, wagon rides and performances by students from Grand Jeté School of Dance. Kalmbach Park will host its 22nd gingerbread competition 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the park, 200 Cotton St., Macungie. This year’s event also will feature face painting 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visit the website www.kalmbachpark.com for details.

Dec. 18

The Emmaus Historical Society Christmas Covered Dish Party at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501

Chestnut St., Emmaus, will be held 5:30 p.m. Doors open 5 p.m. The event includes an evening of cheer, friendship and holiday entertainment. Call the museum with how many will be attending and if you will bring an appetizer, side dish or dessert. The society will supply the main dish. Appetizers will be available for snacking and visiting before dinner. Holiday music by Woodside Avenue will be provided. Bring a new scarf, hat, gloves or socks for the “help those in need” holiday project! Members and nonmembers are welcome. Wear your favorite Christmas sweater. Nonmembers are asked to become a new member to dine.

Dec. 21

Wildlands Conservancy is scheduled to host its Winter Solstice Snowshoe Stroll event at the Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary, 3701 Orchid Place, Emmaus, noon to 1:30 p.m. The event is designed for those 6 years and older. Highlights will include a guided hike, a bird feeder craft and warm refreshments. There is a cost and registration closes Dec. 19. Dec. 24

St. Peter’s Union Church, 7863 St. Peters Road, Macungie, will host a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, 7 p.m. All are welcome.

Dec. 28

The Get Out for Wellness series, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network, hosts a free sightseeing hike in downtown Bethlehem 10 a.m. to noon. The itinerary includes a walk through Nisky Hill Cemetery, a visit to “God’s Little Acre” cemetery to find flat headstones dating to the 1740s and stops at the Nain House, built in 1758, Hotel Bethlehem and Central Moravian Church. Hikers are encouraged to dress in layers and wear comfortable walking shoes. Dogs are not allowed in the two cemeteries. Participants will park near the Ice House, 56 River St., Bethlehem.
