Veterans treated to breakfast at American Legion

A breakfast honoring local veterans was held Nov. 10 at Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St. Post 215 Commander Mike Rennig was very satisfied with the turnout, noting the date was selected to honor veterans since Veterans Day was Nov. 11.

Rennig and his brother Steve, both from Whitehall, and Marlin Bozes, of Allentown, were busy serving the eggs, bacon and more in a country- style setup. In a family affair, Rennig’s wife, Linda, did her share of volunteering as a table busser.

The kitchen volunteers, including John O’Connell, of Catasauqua, and Willie Grazia and Drew Bloomberg, both from Allentown, stayed busy.

Linda Rothrock, of North Catasauqua, and spouse of the Legion’s vice commander occupied the important role of tickets sales for the breakfast and for two upcoming Legion raffles.

A Thanksgiving basket, with a $100 value, was to be raffled off. The basket was donated in memory of Judy A. Kisthart, a regular volunteer at the Legion and in the community. All proceeds go to support the kids’ Christmas party. The winning ticket was to be drawn Nov. 24.

A second item, with a total prize value of $700, was also being raffled. It was a Yeti cooler filled with numerous adult beverages, including whiskeys, wines and more. Ticket proceeds are for the benefit of Post 215. The winning ticket will be drawn Jan. 26, 2025.
