Metz Culinary Management provides update to school board

During Whitehall-Coplay School Board’s Nov. 11 meeting, Metz Culinary Management — the team behind the food served to grades kindergarten through 12 within Whitehall-Coplay School District — began with a presentation.

“We are learning and getting to know the students (and) their order,” said Cathy Muto, general manager. “Everything is going well.”

The hot grab-and-go features menu has been rotated and now includes things like wraps, cheesesteaks, homemade salads and homemade soups.

“We are now offering premade order forms for the high school staff and faculty, so they can order things in the morning,” Muto said.

New for the summer of 2024, Metz was able to serve reimbursable meals to teams during their training in June, July and August.

Metz will provide a Thanksgiving lunch this month and a Christmas breakfast next month for elementary schools. As a special treat, the last day of school before students go on Christmas break, Santa will be stopping by and providing cookies.

Also at the meeting, a presentation about a new high school course proposal was presented. Whitehall High School will be looking at three new courses for next school year — AP micro/macro economics, heritage Spanish 1 and ceramics 3.

The next committee meeting will be 4 p.m. Dec. 3, and the regular school board meeting will be 7 p.m. Dec. 16.
